[edit] Introduction
Welcome fellow Apache fan, this is the place where we will discuss one of the strongest yet weakest of the NOD vehicles. I hope that once you have read through this that you will have a better view on these flying machines.
Although the Apache is a fragile vehicle, don't underestimate it.
[edit] Apache Information
First we will see the information about the Apache. And be sure to read this section, although many people already know this, it's important-
Apache
- Cost: 900 credits
This is one of the most expensive vehicles of NOD. The stealth tank also costs 900 credits.
- Primary Weapon: Machine gun
The main weapon you will use. This gun is fast and strong.
- Secondary Weapon: Rockets
A medium ranged weapon which does a fair amount of damage. It has a very low tracking so you won't use this much except for against buildings!
Seats: 1
Unique is that this tank has only 1 seat! This has it's ups and downs though.
[edit] Rumours
Many people rumour that the Apache is not worth it's money. It gets shot down too fast and it isn't handy to fly with. Although it has a huge lack of armor its speed can keep it alive! The Apache has given up a lot of his armor in return for speed. A good trained Apache player can destroy any enemy that tries to attack him, except the sniper in most cases.
This brings us to the second rumour; some people say that Apaches are weak versus a Havoc. An Apache can kill a Havoc without to much problem if the Apache driver knows where the Havoc is! A ramjet from a Havoc can fire at high speed, but the only problem the Ramjet has is that it is controlled by a human; thus, its aim isn't perfect. With this said, the Apache should be relatively safe from any not pro-sniper.
[edit] The Rockets
The Secondary weapon of the Apache are rockets. Eventhough they are its secondary weapons, they will not be used much against an enemy for they have a very low tracking device. Thus making them weak against any moving target!
The good points of the Apache's rockets are:
- They do more damage then the bullets
- They do splash damage and are thus very handy for snuffing out snipers that are hiding behind a pillar or any other obstacle.
- They are your only weapon against buildings.
The bad points of the Apache rockats are:
- They can't hit moving targets well
So as you can see the only bad thing is, they can't hit moving targets... So actually the rockets are rather handy to have on your Apache. They can help you in a lot of ways. They do a little more damage which can come in handy when facing of against an Apache.
[edit] The Machine Gun
The favorite weapon of most Apache users! The Machine Gun is a very handy weapon to have. Unlike all other Nod vehicles, this weapon doesn't need to reload. It can fire continuously, making it the best anti-infantry weapon the Nod-vehicle arsenal offers. One Apache is able to take down a massive rush of infantry and medium tanks without them ever reaching the Nod base, if they are fired upon early enough.
[edit] Strengths
The Apache has alot of strengths. Some of them are told here.
- There is nothing in the game that an Apache can not kill, as with any other unit. One of its two weapons will be effective against anything the enemy can throw at you. In a one-on-one match with an Apache and anything else, if the pilot is skilled, the Apache will win. Guaranteed. Giving the situation, a soldier with a 4-clip Ramjet Rifle can, if covered properly, win easily against a Apache.
- The high speed and maneuverability of the Apache makes it quite difficult to hit with slow moving munitions, like rockets and tank shells.
- The Apache has a medium range on its machine gun, and is very accurate. Also, it's fairly effective against everything but buildings.
- Another strength of the Apache is that they are able to fly above a tank, and fire directly down. This is called the blindspot for tanks. Any tank will need to move in order to hit it's attacker.
- Flying units are the best with which to run people over, and the Apache is no exception. Its high speed and the ability to come down on top of you vertically makes it well-suited for running junk over. Although it takes a little practice to be able to land on units at high speed.
[edit] Weaknesses
The weaknesses of the Apache are well known by all these include.
- Snipers of any sort, a good sniper can kill an Apache. But this of course also depends on the skill of the Apache driver. But notice that 1 ramjet only needs 5 shots to kill you... You have 1 chance though, if the sniper is reloading you can get away before he can hit you again.
- Heavy infantry like PICs or Mobius' are also a pain for Apache's if they get to close, cause there weaponry do the most damage to them.
- Tiberian infantry, they have a very long range and do medium damage making them overall very annoying! They fire fast making avoiding the bullets very hard. although you can avoid some bullets be sure that you'll get damage, try to avoid it by flying behind an object.
- Humvees and APCs. They're a pain if they do spot you, and they're bound to give chase since theyre both speedy vehicles.
[edit] Facing an Apache
If you wish to know how to destroy an Apache it is best to know which lvl of skill he has. The higher there lvl the harder it is to destroy him. For more info about Apache flying lvl visit GDI/NOD Pilot rankings
If you know which lvl of skill the enemy Apache has you can know how to defeat them. But most of the time 2 or more snipers, can take down an Apache if they are set up on different locations to make sure he can't repair his Apache without being shot at.
[edit] Priority's before Flying
On most maps, one has the ability to infantry rush (or do a fast rush with a Buggie), but if you wish to use an Apache, you should think of destroying either the Barracks, Refinery or the Powerplant. This so that anti-air infantry will be set back to a minimum. of course if the Barr can be destroyed, it will stay at a minimum.
Another priority is to try and keep your credits high! If someone is able to destroy your Apache, that you atleast have some credits to be able to rebuy your lost aircraft. Many a time have i seen people buy an Apache, have it lost after an amount of time, but don't have the credits to rebuy it! This is especially frustrating if once's ref is down...cause you're better off buying an infantry unit if the enemy has a hell amount of snipers.
